DECORATIVE Mineral Wall Finishes

for Luxury Interiors

Venetian plaster and lime-based finishes applied on-site.

Recreating natural stone and bespoke textures for spaces that matter

At Stonali, we apply artisanal mineral wall finishes for luxury interiors and author-driven architecture. We formulate our own lime-based plasters with selected minerals — from Venetian plaster to exclusive techniques — and execute on-site application, artisanally recreating natural stones and developing bespoke signature textures designed exclusively for each space.

HOW IT WORKS

WE LISTEN

Every project begins with understanding your space,

vision, and how light moves through it.

WE STUDY

Custom samples are crafted. Visual simulations

created. Materials selected for your unique environment.

WE TRANSFORM

Your surface is hand-applied on-site, becoming a living mineral finish designed to last generations.

FREQUENT QUESTIONS

What materials do you use?

Every surface begins in our atelier. We formulate our own mineral stucco from hand-selected lime and minerals — creating textures found nowhere else. Each batch is crafted for a specific project, inspired by light, stone and timeless architecture.

How long does a project take?

Typically 4 to 12 weeks from consultation to installation, depending on scale and complexity. We coordinate closely with architects and project schedules to ensure seamless integration.

WHATS INCLUDED IN THE PROCESS?

Every project includes a consultation, custom material samples, and visual simulations before we begin. From there, we craft and install your surface with absolute care. Timeline: typically 4-12 weeks from consultation to completion.

What Types of projects do you work on?

We work with anyone who values artisanal craft and exceptional materiality. Residences, hotels, luxury interiors — from intimate homes to grand architectural projects. If your space matters to you, we want to hear about it.

Why lime, not paint or microcement?

We use traditional air lime — the same material Romans used in the Colosseum, Italians in their centuries-old churches. Unlike synthetic paint that dries and peels, or microcement that seals walls, lime undergoes carbonation: a chemical transformation where it literally turns back into stone. The result is a breathable, antibacterial, VOC-free surface that ages beautifully and regulates humidity naturally.

How long do these surfaces last?

Centuries, not years. While paint degrades over time, lime stucco carbonates — hardening, deepening, becoming natural stone. It's not a coating. It's a living mineral layer that grows stronger with age.

What does "living stone" mean?

When we apply lime stucco, it's not simply drying — it's transforming. The lime paste absorbs CO₂ from the air and chemically reverts to calcium carbonate: limestone. The same material it came from. Your wall becomes stone again. This is why we say: where art becomes stone.

Is this just decorative paint?

Not just that. This is mineral art. It's a chemical reaction between lime and CO₂, creating a natural stone-like layer. The surface breathes, regulates humidity, resists bacteria, and contains zero VOCs. Paint covers. Lime transforms.

Can I see samples before commissioning?

Yes. We provide curated physical samples and can arrange a consultation at our atelier to explore textures, finishes, and possibilities for your project.

Do you work internationally?

Yes. We're based in Portugal but work globally. It's simply a matter of discussing the project and ensuring the logistics align. Contact us and let's explore the possibilities.

What makes Stonali different?

We don't just apply finishes — we sculpt mineral surfaces. Every wall is a unique, handcrafted artwork born from years of material research and ancient technique. We honor craft, chemistry, and the wisdom of materials that have lasted millennia.

Why don't you use microcement?

Microcement seals the wall, trapping moisture and preventing it from breathing. Our lime-based stucco is porous and natural — allowing walls to regulate humidity, resist mold, and age gracefully. We believe walls should live, not suffocate.

How TO begin?

Contact us through the form below. We'll schedule a consultation, discuss your vision, create a visual simulation, and provide material samples. From there, we guide you through every step — from concept to installation — with absolute care.
